Chalakudy: A special investigative team led by DySP KS Sudarshan on Monday summoned five people, including an actor to Chalakudy police station to take their statements, in connection with actor Kalabhavan Mani’s death.
Police reportedly found arrack from the actor’s outhouse, where he used to spend time with his friends. The outhouse has been sealed. Mani (45), died in a private hospital in Kochi on Sunday evening.
Police sources said a case of natural death was registered and the body would be handed over to the relatives after post-mortem, which would be held at government medical college, Thrissur.
Meanwhile a special team of police was formed to investigate into the incident. Mani was admitted to Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi on Saturday. Mani has been under treatment for liver-related ailment for quite some time. However, he was found unconscious at an outhouse in his farm at Chalakkudy.
Initially, Mani was admitted to a local hospital, from where he was shifted to Kochi as the condition worsened. Doctors at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences noticed presence of methyl alcohol in his blood. Subsequently, they alerted police, leading to registering a case. But, police could not record the statement of Mani then due to his deteriorating health condition.
Meanwhile, police had searched the outhouse near his house, where Mani had spent time with three friends.
